Health is not valued till sickness comes...

What Everybody Should Know About Healthy Teeth

images1.jpgIt’s difficult to overestimate the importance of healthy teeth. Strong and white teeth tell about the good state of the whole organism itself. They form a certain protective barrier between the mouth and the external medium. And nowadays esthetic meaning has been added to this – nice teeth serve as a social status marker.

Still teeth probably are the most problematic zone of our organism. Decay and sore gums are the most wildly illnesses to be met. Except for the normal absence of some teeth at the age of 40-50 they unfortunately bear some “roots” of digestive system disorders which will undermine health due to the constant teeth and gums inflammations.

So the measures to be taken for healthy teeth are out of the question and some sort of prophylaxis should be rendered as early as possible in a tight cooperation with professional dentist. This will help to gain a firm habit of teeth care for the whole life. Healthy and beautiful smile is the basis for self-confidence.

Teeth vary for their structure and functions. There are 4 types of them:
 • Incisor (cutting tooth) – front tooth with the cutting edge to bite the food.
 • Canine  - cone-shaped tooth to tear off the food
 • Root tooth to pound and chew the food – it has a chewing surface with hollows.

All the teeth have similar structure – crown coming forward of the gum and root which is hidden in the jaw. Crow is covered by very strong substance – enamel which serves to protect the main tooth mass formed by dentin.

Illness may strike both the very tooth enamel and this may cause decay and the gum surrounding the teeth. In both cases the main reason is teeth coating – the mixture of bacteria and saliva elements which amasses between teeth and at the gum edge. Bacteria convert sugar into the acid dissolving the enamel and dentin.

Ways to fight

The simplest and the most conventional way to keep your teeth in a proper condition is to clean them twice a day with fluorine-containing pastes.

The other main condition is an appropriate food allowance. The quantity of the carbohydrates consumed is the predominant point here. The carbohydrates containing food bring about adverse impact both to the teeth and the organism in general. It does not mean we have to exclude carbohydrates completely but it’s better to low their consumption to the optimum level and to choose food that is good for teeth. The balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals and microelements will also provide preventive measures against teeth dacay.
